Millions Are Saying No to the Vaccines. What Are They Thinking?

It is important for us to understand why some people are anti-vaccine and others are vaccine hesitant.

There's not just one kind of vaccine hesitancy

Learning about the multiple reasons why people are avoiding vaccines will also help us create new strategies to reach them.

Why so many people are skipping their second Covid shot — and why they shouldn't

There is an issue, not only with people who are vaccine-hesitant, but also with people who come to their own conclusion that one shot is enough. Unless your vaccine has a one-shot regimen, you are not well protected with just a single dose. Why be only partially protected when, for a couple hours in queue, you can have protection in the mid-90 percentile?

We Are Turning COVID-19 Into a Young Person’s Disease

The initial precedent for vaccines was to protect older people, now the disease is becoming increasingly virulent and contagious. Since younger people are least likely to be inoculated, they are picking up the lion’s share of new cases. Hope is on the horizon, as Pfizer is expected to clear their vaccine for adolescents next week. In the meantime, if you have someone in the household who is not inoculated, it is important to continue safe distancing and masking protocol. Oh yes, and continue washing your hands often.

‘This Is a Catastrophe.’ In India, Illness Is Everywhere.

The virus in India will not be able to be contained for much longer. New variants are developing and it is impossible to quarantine the 2nd most populated country in the world. On a case per person level, India does not match the US at its peak and some hotspots in Alberta are even higher than India. But when your population is over a billion (1.366 billion, 2019), it makes the numbers for the country seem inflated. Many countries have responded to India’s situation. Will it be enough in time? Will the government of India be able to manage the outbreak? Right now they seem overwhelmed.
