Pfizer COVID Vaccine and Adolescents

As older adults have been vaccinated in many nations, younger people have been the newest group to have the highest risk of COVID. Pfizer has been approved by the FDA for 12-15 year olds and the application for children as young as 6 months is under review. There are moral questions about immunizing children in wealthy nations when other high-risk populations (and front line workers) are still unvaccinated in developing nations.

Economically, women have been the hardest hit by the pandemic. The US Labor Secretary says the economy cannot have a strong recovery without getting women back to work.

If Your Brain Feels Foggy And You're Tired All The Time, You're Not Alone

There’s been a lot of talk about lethargy and depression as one of the symptoms of long covid, but some people are feeling tired all the time even without having had the virus.

Google’s 3-Word Plan for Returning to Work Is the Best I’ve Ever Seen

https://apple.news/AAIQ5WmmnT3W9qAN7YYdQTA

‘Belonging Is Stronger Than Facts’: The Age of Misinformation

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/07/world/asia/misinformation-disinformation-fake-news.html

Many people are frustrated with anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers, but if you want to understand their reasoning better, this is a good article for you. Knowing at the root of their choices are belonging issues rather than scientific issues, is the first cue to having an initial discussion with someone.

Vaccine Passports: World’s 20 Biggest Economies Give Go-Ahead

https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexledsom/2021/05/05/vaccine-passports-worlds-20-biggest-economies-give-go-ahead/

Requiring vaccine passports before one can visit countries or attend large events would be one way to entice people to get their vaccines. The problem is there are also a number of fake passport sites popping up on the Internet. The behavior seems very adolescent to me. Sort of like acting poorly when there is a substitute teacher.

10 reasons why young, healthy people really need to get vaccinated

https://apple.news/AziPVcppLRx2FbOKBqgjKfQ

We know that young people are taking the brunt of the new COVID variants, which are not only more contagious, but also deadlier. Those adults who have the vaccine, but have younger people in the family, know they can’t fully enjoy the benefits of a fully vaccinated life and risk bringing the virus home to their teens and children.

‘Hard to believe’: Scientists alarmed by COVID’s diabetes link, particularly in children

If there ever was a reason to get vaccinated, besides civic duty, it’s this one, the link concerning scientists between covid and childhood diabetes.
