Dreading more harassment when masks come off? Here’s how to respond.

https://apple.news/Aoksl0zc3T--yAAXhBARrSQ

If you’re like me and not sure you want to jump back into life unmasked, prepare to be harassed by people who strongly disagree with you. This article not only covers how to respond to that type of harassment, but also the type of harassment that some people—especially women and minorities—receive on a daily bases. There is a website to help you when you feel harassed, it is called, Lily Lines, and this article suggests turning to them for assistance when you feel harassed. They have good ideas for prevention, as well as helping others being harassed. As you will see below, this issue popped up in two major feeds this week and it is a trending issue.

‘Scandalous inequity’: WHO says 75% of vaccines given out in just 10 countries

https://globalnews.ca/news/7888608/who-covid-vaccine-sharing-inequity/

How bad is the vaccine inequity in our world? These statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), give deeper insight into that question and offer clues for evening the ratio. The truth behind a virus is that we can’t recover until all people recover.

Millennials are entering a decade of despair. Here's how they can prepare.

https://mashable.com/article/millennials-turn-40/

Millennials were also a trending topic this week as we look at recovering from the pandemic economically. The economy overall has faced setbacks, but those setbacks are doubly-hard for a generation that is real estate poor and trying to create new cultural mores around what middle class looks like. There are some gemstones of quotes in this article that many millennials will identify with. When one person was told to take prozac for his extended dismay, his response was, “It wasn't a mood problem, but a satisfaction problem.”

All in all, the best thing about reaching 40 for the millennial generation is that it leads to 50, as quoted in this article, Victor Hugo had a unique perspective of this time of life. "Forty is the old age of youth; 50 is the youth of old age.”

What the new CDC mask guidance means for kids under 12

https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/22/us/children-under-12-covid-vaccine/

Everyone who has not had both vaccines should be wearing a mask, according to the CDC. That means all 12-year-olds and under. Vaccine trials for those under 12 have been approved, all the way down to 6-months and limited research has shown that some of the protection mothers receive from a vaccine while pregnant can be passed on to their babies. But until children are vaccinated, it is best to be safe, stay distant and continue masking.

Should my child get the COVID-19 vaccine? 7 questions answered by a pediatric infectious disease expert

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/05/child-covid19-vaccine-questions-answered-pediatric-expert/

Many adults have been passing their hesitancy on to children, but following the facts tells us this is an unsustainable strategy that could lead to serious illness or worse. There was even an article this week (scroll down) where teens were working together to help each other get vaccines because parents were going to kick them out of their house if they had themselves vaccinated. Seriously, the misinformation is costing lives and hurting people. It has to stop.

COMIC: How To Intervene When Someone Is Harassed Or Attacked

https://www.npr.org/2021/05/10/995423418/comic-how-to-intervene-when-someone-is-harassed-or-attacked

This comic is a wonderful illustration about dealing with harassment or violence. As people are becoming more aggressive in harassing mask-wearers, this is unfortunately becoming important training.

Why Millennials Can’t Grow Up

https://apple.news/A9Aznd7c1TUyMJlJNLOcYbQ

The traditional markers of life’s passages are not working for the millennial generation and new ones are being sought. In the meantime, there is a lot of anxiety and distress around exactly what “growing up” will look like for this generation now hitting their forties.
